my pregnant sister has a rare condition called vasa previa. this means that there is a blood vessel blocking the birth canal. if she goes into labor, the baby will not survive, and there’s a chance she might not either. she is due soon, and right now it’s a race against time. they are forced to do cesarean section, but they are waiting and chancing it because the baby needs to be incubated for as long as possible for it to be as developed as possible. ugh.

i thought shit like this only happened in the early 1900’s. how often do you hear of women not surviving childbirth anymore? this is unreal.
